About Hanyu and Ichiro's Malt Card Series
The Hanyu Distillery, located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, officially ceased operations in 2000. Ichiro Akuto inherited approximately 400 casks of original spirit left by his father. Between 2005 and 2014, these were successively bottled as single casks, forming the Ichiro's Malt Card Series, themed around playing cards. The complete set consists of 54 cards (52 regular cards plus two Jokers). As the raw material came from a closed distillery with a finite number of casks, each sold cask reduced the available stock. This is the fundamental reason behind the continuous deepening scarcity of the entire series in the secondary market.
Specifically regarding the Jokers, they were released in 2014, the final year of the series. Their overall surviving quantity is widely acknowledged to be lower than that of most regular cards, which is a key factor behind the Black Joker's consistently high market value within the series.
