Buying Hanyu Yuzuru playing cards (single cards)

Regular price
0 in stock

Only one Hanyu playing card? This page is the main entry for the buyback of all 54 individual cards.

The complete set of 54 Hanyu Ichiro's Malt Card Series cards are all independently bottled single casks, with no two being exactly alike. If you have even one card, we can individually evaluate and purchase it, no need to gather the entire set. As there is a significant difference in market attention between different card positions within the same series, with Joker and King cards often selling for several times the price of mid-range number cards, confirming the version before selling is particularly important.

When sending photos, please also provide the card position (suit and rank), label version, and completeness of the outer box. We will compare it with recent transaction prices to provide a more accurate valuation.

About Hanyu and Ichiro's Malt Card Series

Hanyu was a single malt distillery located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, which ceased production and closed in 2000. Ichiro Akuto, the third-generation founder of the family, took over hundreds of casks of raw spirits left by his father. Starting in 2005, he began bottling them cask by cask, using playing cards as a theme, completing the entire series over approximately ten years. Each cask was bottled independently and, once used, could not be replenished—this is the fundamental reason why the Card Series became a benchmark for Japanese whisky collectors.

Precisely because it is a limited stock from a closed distillery, the supply of individual cards will only become scarcer. For sellers holding these cards, the longer the distillery has been out of production, the rarer the original, complete pieces become.

Market Depth of the Card Series

In 2019, a complete set of 54 cards sold for HK$7,192,000 at Bonhams Hong Kong, which is the most representative transaction record for the Card Series at public auction. Since then, individual cards have circulated annually in London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, and the trading activity of the entire series far exceeds that of typical Japanese whiskies. In other words, individual cards themselves have a mature secondary market for valuation.
