6 of Hearts: The most frequently sought-after card for complete set collectors in later stages.
The 6 of Hearts is a low-numbered card in the Hanyu Playing Card Series. Low-numbered cards rarely appear individually at public auctions. However, due to the rigid demand for completing sets, they are one of the most frequently sought-after cards by collectors in the later stages of completing their collections. The market price for private transactions often reflects the true demand for such cards more accurately than public auctions. If you possess a 6 of Hearts, we can evaluate and purchase it individually.
Origin of the Hanyu Playing Card Series
The Hanyu distillery, located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, officially ceased production and closed in 2000. Ichiro Akuto, the third generation, took over hundreds of casks of original whisky left by his father. Between 2005 and 2014, these were successively bottled as single casks. The entire collection, themed after playing cards, was named Ichiro's Malt Card Series. The complete set consists of 54 cards: 52 standard cards plus 2 jokers. This series is widely recognized as a benchmark for single malt collecting, with each card being unique and irreplaceable once sold.
In 2019, a complete set of 54 cards was sold for HK$7,192,000 at Bonhams, Hong Kong, representing the most iconic transaction record for the Card Series at public auction. Since then, individual cards have been actively traded annually at auctions in London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
