Yoichi 12 Year (New Edition): Key Differences Compared to the Old Edition
The new 12-year edition (black label) has higher market circulation than the old edition (light-colored label), and its price is slightly lower than the old edition.
Yoichi Brand and Market Background
Yoichi's peaty style differs from the iodine notes of Islay, Scotland – leaning more towards charcoal-grilled meat and campfire smoke, while also featuring salty mineral notes from the Hokkaido sea breeze.
Yoichi's aged whiskies were progressively discontinued starting in 2015, and secondary market supply continues to shrink. Auction prices for rare versions such as Yoichi 20 Year and Yoichi 1987 have seen significant increases in recent years.

Key Authentication Points for this Version
The main color of the new label is black, which is distinctly different from the light beige of the old label. Pay attention to the "Nikka" font on the back label.
General authentication process: Fill level (neck position is ideal), cork or screw cap condition, label print quality, bottle serial number engraving, completeness of original wooden box and certificate. If any one of these is missing, the valuation will be discounted accordingly, but it can still be accepted.
Yoichi's Market Depth
Yoichi Distillery is Nikka's single malt distillery in Hokkaido. In 2015, it announced a complete halt to all age-statement versions (core 12/15/20-year editions), and market circulation continues to shrink.
