Briefly: In 2000, the distillery ceased production, and the eldest grandson, Ichiro Akuto, took over the remaining 400 casks of premium whisky before the distillery's closure. Ichiro Akuto then personally selected and bottled each cask, creating unique "playing cards" of whisky, which were released between 2005 and 2014, continuing the legendary history of the Hanyu Distillery.
