Its crystal bottle was flawless, with the classic black outer box and crystal stopper both present. The Macallan 18 Year Old (1996 additional release) was another outstanding bottle. The older purple-black carton evoked its era. The Macallan's sherry-cask whiskies of the 1990s are known for their rich dried-fruit, chocolate and spice flavours, a classic character that many newer releases cannot reproduce. I gently swirled the bottle; the whisky appeared in very good condition, with an excellent fill level.

There was also a boxed Macallan 21 Year Old Fine Oak (Triple Cask Matured), complete with its original packing straw and booklet. It was exceptionally complete.
