Yoichi 15 Year Old Pure Malt: A Hot Seller in the Discontinued Age Statement Series
The 15-year expression from Yoichi saw the sharpest price increase among its discontinued age statement series and has the highest exposure in international auctions.
Yoichi Brand and Market Background
The Yoichi Distillery was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, who chose Hokkaido for its climate, which is similar to the Scottish Highlands. Yoichi still adheres to traditional coal-fired distillation, a method currently employed by very few distilleries worldwide.
Yoichi's age-statement whiskies were gradually discontinued starting in 2015, leading to a continuous reduction in secondary market supply. Auction prices for rare versions such as Yoichi 20 Year Old and Yoichi 1987 have risen significantly in recent years.

The ABV on the back label of the 15-year-old bottle should be 45%. Pay attention to the connection between the age statement font and the gold border on the front label.
General authentication process: Fill level (neck position is ideal), cork or screw cap health, label print layers, bottle serial number engraving, completeness of original wooden box and certificate. If any of these are missing, the valuation will be discounted accordingly, but it can still be accepted.
Yoichi's Market Depth
The Nikka Yoichi Distillery, located in Hokkaido, is Japan's second-oldest whisky distillery. Since 2015, the regular age-statement series has been progressively discontinued, leading to strengthening prices in the secondary market.
