Briefly: The company started producing whisky in 1980, but due to the harsh environment and the impact of spirits taxes, it had to close down in 2000. Later, Ichiro Hido bought nearly 400 casks of Hanyu's stock and commissioned Ken Abe to design the labels. Thus, the "Hanyu Playing Card Series," in which every bottle is made from cask whisky, was born.
