WhatsApp photo quoteMr Lee of Sha Tin is an experienced IT systems consultant and a passionate premium-audio enthusiast. His whisky cabinet and audio rack represent two equally exacting pursuits in his life.
He contacts Whisky Era because he has just ordered a large flagship valve-based vinyl audio system. To free the space occupied by a large temperature-controlled cabinet beside the living room, he decides to sell several Japanese whiskies. That brings us to these two exceptional Noh Whisky bottles.
Legends of Japanese Whisky
When Mr Lee places them on the appraisal table, even an appraiser accustomed to rare treasures cannot help admiring them.
These are two renowned, rare and irreplaceable bottles:

First is Hanyu Whisky. The original Hanyu distillery ceased production in 2000. The present Hanyu distillery resumed production in 2021, but new production will not increase the surviving legacy spirit. This bottle's original paulownia-wood box is complete, its Noh-mask printing detailed without fading or damage, and its label nearly new.
The other is Karuizawa Whisky. The original Karuizawa distillery ceased production in 2000. The new distillery of the same name, which began distilling in 2022, is distinct from this legacy spirit. The Noh Series is known worldwide for exquisite theatre-mask imagery and recognised as an exceptional collection in Japanese whisky.

Both fill levels remain high. The closures appear intact, without obvious signs of leakage. Original packaging is complete and the labels are excellent. After we explain their rarity backgrounds in detail, Mr Lee nods with satisfaction. 'People who understand them are the ones who deserve to own them.'

What You May Want to Know About Selling Rare Japanese Whisky
Q 1: Why do closed-distillery whiskies like Hanyu and Karuizawa command much more than regular Japanese whisky?
Both original distilleries ceased production in 2000. The surviving legacy spirit in this case will not increase with the resumption of production at Hanyu and the new Karuizawa distillery of the same name. With continuing global demand for Japanese whisky, truly rare bottles like these have repeatedly reached new auction highs.
Q 2: With so many Noh editions, how can authenticity be judged?
Counterfeits do circulate. Main checks include the precision of Noh-mask printing, paulownia-box material and joinery, distillery marks on the bottle base and cork condition. A professional on-site appraisal is recommended.
Q 3: Do you offer home visits for premium Japanese whisky like this?
Yes. We particularly recommend on-site appraisal for high-value collectibles to avoid transport damage. Home visits are free across Hong Kong's principal areas.
Q 4: Is there an appraisal charge?
It is entirely free, including initial online valuation and on-site physical inspection.
Q 5: How is payment settled?
After both sides agree on the quote and sign the agreement, we support immediate cash or FPS. Full payment arrives before we take the collection.
