To understand Hibiki whisky, you must first start with the company. Suntory is a leading company in Japanese whisky, and for those who want to taste pure Japanese whisky, the whisky produced by this group is definitely the first choice.
Suntory owns three core Japanese whisky brands: Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Hibiki. The first two brands are single malt whiskies, while Hibiki is the most expensive blended whisky in the world today.
Hibiki whisky is a blend of spirits selected from three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita. Its name comes from the ancient saying "harmony between man and nature." The unique faceted bottle design symbolizes the passage of time. The traditional Chinese character "响" on the label was written by the famous calligrapher Tanyuki Hagino. Even the paper is carefully selected, using the historically significant Echizen washi paper.

"Hibiki" is a whisky brand launched by Suntory in 1989 to celebrate its 90th anniversary. At the World Whisky Awards (WWA), often referred to as the Oscars of the whisky world, Hibiki has won 8 out of 14 awards (3 for Hibiki 30 Year Old and 5 for Hibiki 21 Year Old), rightfully earning its title as the king of blended whiskies and consistently ranking first among Wine Searcher's most expensive blended whiskies in the world.
Below is a detailed introduction to the various sakes in the Hibiki series.
Hibiki and mellow blended whisky
Hibiki Japanese Harmony Blended Whiskey
Hibiki and Kaze Blended Whisky blends more than 12 types of malt and grain whisky from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. The American white oak malt provides a solid base, while rare Mizunara wood (Japanese oak) and sherry cask malt whisky add richness.
Master Selection Sherry Cask Blended Whisky
Hibiki Japanese Harmony Master's Select Blended Whiskey
HIBIKI Japanese Harmony Masters Select blends at least 10 different malts and grains, aged in 5 different types of casks. Under the supervision of the third-generation blender and the great-grandson of the founder of SHINGO TORII, and with the guidance of the fourth-generation master blender Shinji Fukuyo, it achieves a noble and harmonious blend with subtle Yamazaki sherry cask characteristics. It combines more than 10 types of whisky from Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries, including world-renowned Yamazaki sherry cask whisky.
Hibiki Bartender's Choice Blended Whisky
Hibiki Blender's Choice Blended Whiskey
Hibiki Blender's Choice whisky is a blend of whiskies from different years, including some that have matured for over 30 years, while the average is about 15 years. Suntory has also selected various whiskies that have been matured in wine barrels for the blending, hoping to give Blender's Choice a round, balanced, yet layered flavor.

This whisky has won the title of World's Best Blended Whisky five times at the WWA competition, making it the undisputed core of the brand.
Hibiki 21 Year Old is one of the two whiskies launched when the brand was established in 1989. In addition to its excellent quality, the whisky's packaging is also unique. It is presented in a crystal bottle with 24 facets, and the label is made of Echizen washi paper, which made it stand out from the moment it was released. The 24 facets represent the 24 hours of a day and the 24 solar terms of a year, reflecting the importance of time to whisky.
Hibiki 21 Year Old Flower, Bird, Wind and Moon Limited Edition Whisky
The name Kacho Fugetsu, meaning "flower, bird, wind, and moon" in Japanese, is derived from the character for Hibiki 21 Year Old. The bottle design represents the beautiful natural scenery of Japan.
The Hibiki 21-year-old Mount Fuji Limited Edition includes the first edition, which was only available in Japan and limited to 2,000 bottles; and the second edition, a duty-free version, which was also limited to 2,000 bottles.

Released in 1997, this whisky is a blend of spirits aged over 30 years in North American white oak casks from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, and grain whiskies aged over 30 years from the Chita distillery. The entire production process is done by hand, with only a few thousand bottles produced annually, each numbered. The bottle design is also more refined, featuring 30 facets on a crystal bottle to represent the 30 years the spirits have spent in oak casks, and a label made of Echizen washi paper with gold leaf inserts.
Hibiki 35 Year Old Blended Whisky
Hibiki 35 Years Old Blended Whiskey
Like the Yamazaki 50-year-old, the Hibiki 35-year-old is a limited edition, with only 150 bottles released at a time, and it can basically only be found at auctions. The sake is blended from sake aged 35 to 46 years and is served in a specially designed ceramic bottle.
In 2017, Suntory launched a pair of bottles to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Japanese porcelain. They were made in the Arita ware and Kutani ware styles, respectively, and the bottles were decorated with peony and butterfly patterns.
