Why is Macallan so popular?
Whisky has a long history, and whiskies produced in different regions have different flavors. When it comes to whisky, we must introduce Macallan whisky!

Macallan whisky is hailed as the "Rolls-Royce of whiskies." In addition to being a must-have for whisky lovers, some Macallan bottles are also targets for collectors to spend money on at auctions. In 2018, a bottle of "1926 Macallan 60 Years" sold for £1.45 million (HK$14.6 million), not only setting a Macallan record but also becoming the most expensive whisky ever.

During the pandemic, Macallan whiskies like "12 Year Old" and "18 Year Old" saw their prices rise rather than fall in the spirits market.
Returning to our title, why is Macallan whisky so popular and sought after by thousands of people? Macallan whiskies have always been known for their high quality, and this is all due to their dedication to coopering and brewing. The Macallan distillery insists on maturing whisky in sherry casks. Besides the malt itself, the oak cask is also a crucial factor affecting the whisky's aroma, as whisky is matured for at least 3 years, and over the years, the oak cask imparts a lot of flavor to the spirit. Oak casks are divided into Bourbon casks and Sherry casks. Whiskies matured in Bourbon casks will have flavors of vanilla, flowers, lemon citrus, nuts, coconut, etc., while Macallan whiskies matured in Sherry casks will have flavors of chocolate, nuts, caramel, honey, and a richer aroma. Sherry casks are much scarcer and more expensive than Bourbon casks. Macallan's dedication to the brewing process, especially with sherry casks, means they insist on using sherry casks for maturation and brewing, and only use them twice, without "re-racking" or "changing casks." Even if a cask is used up, it can be refurbished, but Macallan knows that doing so would result in a different taste than new casks, so Macallan absolutely never uses second or third-hand casks.

Macallan's strict brewing methods and insistence on sherry casks ensure that Macallan whisky maintains high quality and continues to produce the best whisky.
Because some people believe that the darker the color of the spirit, the better its quality, some distilleries add caramel to deepen the color. However, Macallan insists on not using caramel coloring; it is always natural, with no added colorants, and the color comes entirely from the cask itself to produce Macallan whisky.
The restricted copper stills allow Macallan spirits to have a larger contact area with the copper walls, which purify the spirit. The unique wide-necked, straight design also allows Macallan spirits to spray faster, reducing vapor backflow and resulting in a richer Macallan body.
